We’ve all heard people talk about loving what they do, referring to their occupation. Typically, when people talk about what they “do”, they are talking about their job. Finding a job that you love makes every day happier and more positive. But, it is important to remember that your job is just that, a job. In order to be truly happy in life, you need to surround yourself with the things you love and the people you love. Surround yourself with the things and people that make you genuinely happy. “Do what you love to do” should apply to your whole life, not just part of it.
I have been incredibly fortunate in my life to have only worked jobs that I have truly loved. I absolutely believe that everyone can find ways to make money doing what they love, if they’re willing to work for it and make the necessary sacrifices to make it happen. If you aren’t happy with your job, then find something else that will make you happy. You may never actually find your dream job, but you can absolutely find something you enjoy.
The people you surround yourself with have a bigger impact on your happiness and overall enjoyment of life than you may think. If you find yourself constantly unhappy, frustrated, and lacking motivation, take a look at the people around you. Look at the influences in your life. Are they really there for you when you need them? Do they really support you and want what is best for you? Do they really make you happy? Do they really improve your life and inspire you to be the best version of yourself that you can be? Do they really care? If you can’t honestly answer “yes” to all of those questions, then you really don’t need their negativity in your life. Cutting people out of your life isn’t easy to do, but you will look back later and realize you are better off not having those people dragging you down. This is something I did over a year ago, and I’ve never been happier than I am right now. The quality of the people in your life will always be more important than the quantity. If someone isn’t worthy of your time and effort, then find someone who is. You will thank yourself later.
Something that far too many people in this world overlook is doing what is best for yourself. It’s not selfish, it’s necessary. You are the only person in this world who can tell you what makes you happy and what is best for you. Take care of yourself. Take the time to find out for yourself what makes you happy and what you truly enjoy. Set goals for yourself. Make a plan to achieve those goals. Dream. Dare. Try. Explore. Enjoy life. Just be happy in everything you do. Wake up with a smile on your face and focus on the positives in your life. Throughout the day, take the time to truly enjoy the things in life that make you happiest. Before you go to bed at night, take a few moments to look back at your day and think of the things that made you smile that day.
Your attitude in any given situation has a direct impact on the outcome. You can be the most positive person in the world, and sometimes situations still won’t work out as you had hoped. That’s life. Things don’t always go as planned. In fact, things rarely go as planned, but everything happens for a reason. There is a lesson to be learned in every situation, and the things in life that don’t work out as planned will lead you to what is next for you. As the saying goes, “As one door closes, another door opens”. Don’t be sad that something didn’t work out. Instead, be happy that you are now moving on to something better. Embrace the next step in your journey through life with open arms and see where it leads.
Let happiness and love lead you through life. Without happiness and love in your life, nothing else really matters. You could be famous, have all the money in the world, and own all of the material possessions you could ever dream of owning, but if you aren’t happy and don’t have love in your life, then none of it matters. You can’t buy happiness, it is created from within. Focus on what really matters most in life. Take some time for yourself and figure out what you really want. Do what you love to do in all aspects of your life.
